A book to help you confidently setup and manage your servers. I've wasted days on what should have been minutes. Those miserable, stressful days lead me to learn more about Linux servers so that I could avoid that complete waste of time. As part of that, I created Servers for Hackers as a newsletter to help teach what I've learned. That newsletter has since transformed to a full site with video tutorials, articles, and premium courses. This book, however, is a collection of and expansion on the core material. It's what every programmer really needs to know about web servers. It's designed to get you familiar with server configuration, so you don't waste your time on broken servers. Get the book preview! I downloadd this book because it is the only reference book I could find that is dedicated to nginx.

While I'm sure that some readers will appreciate the ability to start at the ground floor and build up to a working nginx installation, I would have preferred to have those extra pages dedicated to nginx-specific issues. One of the features of nginx is its extensibility via add-in modules. Many modules come with the nginx package, and others are available from 3rd parties.

I was disappointed at how brief the content was in relation to modules that are included in the base package. Also, details on nginx configuration directives were sparse in some instances.

A one sentence description of a directive may suffice for someone that has a basic working knowledge of a subject, but more details would be a great addition for a book that claims to address both beginners and experienced users. Overall, the book answered some of my questions, but leaves me with many unanswered ones.

Alas, the reason I downloadd the book was because online reference materials were somewhat disjointed and brief. I had hoped for the book to be superior to the information I could find online.

Instead, the book is on-par with the info that I could find myself. The editors pledge to answer questions not addressed by the book, so I've dropped them a note. I'll follow up when they respond. Kindle Edition Verified download. It goes through all the basics of installation and configuration, and does so in a fairly easy to understand manner.

My one gripe is that it could be edited better. Some of the things mentioned in later chapters really should've been part of earlier chapters. Constant reminders of "Remember X from Chapter Y? One person found this helpful. I would say I'm an intermediate user of Nginx and I wanted to have a good reference book it.

This book fits the bill. It covers the basics as well as some advanced configurations. Game Optimization. Game Strategy. Game Engines. Single Board Computers. Embedded Systems. IoT Development. Home Automation. Wearable Tech. Industrial Internet of Things. Nginx can be an ideal replacement or supplement to Apache.
